My Trip to Mexico City

To me Mexico City is one of the worlds great cities, huge, one of the world's most difficult cities to drive in, filled with exciting things to see and do, sinking, an energetic metropolis and just an incredible place to visit

Mexico is one reign of the world that has always fascinated me. Some like the Asiatic nomads of 35000 years ago and their successors or the Spanish conquerors of the sixteenth century and their successors came to settle and make their distinctive contributions to the evolution of Mexican culture and society. I noticed in my trip to Mexico City that the city has become similar to that in neighboring United States and Europe with lots of high rising building and fascinating museums

In my visit to Mexico city, I was introduced to lots of folk art traditions, mostly derived from the indigenous and Spanish crafts. I got the chance to see the great work of the painters Diego Rivera who became world famous for his grand murals, often displaying clear social messages where beautiful Frida Kahlo, his wife, produced more personal works with abstract elements.

I noticed that Mexico City's culture is the result of the mixing of indigenous and Spanish traditions, foods, music, religion, and architecture. It is a place where no matter where one looks, the old meets the new to create something unique. A good example of this is found in the city's traditional foods which include chili peppers and tortillas--flat corn-based breads that were eaten by the ancient Aztecs and which are eaten today at almost every meal. I immediately saw and appreciated the mixing of Spanish and native cultures there.

This trip has been a very successful traveling experience. I would like express my gratitude toward my friend Cesar and his family, Patricia and Thierry . It is their care and warm hosting that has made this trip one to remember.

The five Monkeys

A group of scientists put five monkeys in a cage. In the middle of the cage there is a ladder that leads to the top of the cage where there are some bananas. Every time a monkey goes to the top to take the bananas, the scientists wet the rest of the monkeys with cold water.

After awhile; the monkeys realized that each time one of them goes to the top to take some bananas, the rest will have to face the cold water. So they started to hit any monkey that tries to go the top to take some bananas. After a period of time none of the monkeys dare to climb the ladder to take the bananas in spite of all temptations, fearing of being beaten.

Then scientists decided to do a swap of one of the five monkeys so they replace one of the monkeys with a new monkey. The first thing was done by the new monkey is to go up the ladder to take the banana. But immediately the remaining four beat him and force him to get off. After several times of beating, the new monkey understands that he/she should not climb the ladder even though he/she does not know reason why.


After a while, the scientists also switched another one of the old monkeys with another new monkey. The next thing the new monkey tried to do is to climb to ladder to get some bananas. Not surprisingly, the new monkey got beaten by all four monkeys including the first monkey that got in the cage.

 Then scientists kept watching the monkeys behavioral and also replace an old monkey with a new one until the replacement of all the monkeys were done to the whole five monkeys. The new five monkeys behave the same that they start to hit any monkey that tries to go the top to take some bananas without the knowing why they were doing that to each other.

If we suppose .. we ask why monkeys beat the other monkey?

Sure the answer will be: We do not know, but we found our fathers and grandfathers to on certain Customs and traditions

I believe there are two things are limitless ... Science and human stupidity

Programming is anything but easy. Programming is hard work. Programming is one of the most difficult things I have ever done in life time. One the other side, Programming has a mystic quality that makes almost everyone wants to do it, or at least wants to be identified as a programmer. 

From my experience, programming can not be learned in 24 hours, nor can you grasp it in 7 days. I think it takes a 10 year course! Even medical students spend 7 years learning the profession. And I am saying 10 years if started early, if you started late? Then be patient. 

It is not acceptable to make mistakes here. Sometimes my code won’t compile, if they do compile, they won’t run, if they do run, they will have bugs.  Oh tell me about debugging?

I sit at it far late into the night, only to find out that I have spent 6 to 7 hours looking for a misplaced comma, or semi colon.

Code monkeys come to my code while I am a sleep, things that have been working before after I wake up from sleep will suddenly stop working. At times my codes have ideas of their own, different from what I intended. I just hope that I can spent part of my life developing applications like Monster Truck, or GMail, or Facebook Or have one project that will be widely used.
